I'm just gonna say, as far as kid movies go, this one was super duper. It was cute, clever, witty, entertaining, creative and not at all cheesy. I watched it while on the outs and obviously I liked it enough to post about it. That says something, you know.

Scott Pilgrim Vs The World

This is, quite simply, the most AWESOME movie ever!!! (in this genre) That is of course, if you can appreciate imagination, creativity and video gaming. I don't believe that even 99% of people I know would think this movie as great as I, but there it is nonetheless. I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!!

Funny, Sad, Intense, Scary (I almost gave myself a hernia at one point).

I went with my entire family, minus Amber and her boys. Amber has gone back to school so it was a school night for her and the boys were with the biological sperm donor. The only one who gave it a thumbs down was my brother, Morgan. But you have to know this guy. He is extremely critical about everything! However, he did read the books which I have not. We don't really pay attention to his rants and raves :)

Wings

Okay so I finally gave in and bought Wings. I told myself I was not going to get into another teeny-bopper series....but it seemed so interesting and curiosity got the better of me.

I did like the story. It's quite the spin on Faeries - different than anything I have ever read - but it is imaginative and fun. I won't go into what it is about because then, really, it'll ruin it. I learned a little bit about the author after I picked it up and was surprised to learn that she grew up in Salt Lake, has lived in Provo and is LDS.

The bad thing about me giving in and reading Wings now is that, even though Spells released last Tuesday, I already own Wings in paperback and you know how I am about my matching books so now, being very unsmart, I have to wait until Spells comes out in paperback. What an idiot. I should have just bought Wings in hardback in the first place. Whatever.

And FYI, like all other YA books that immediately go to the top of the Best-Sellers list these days, it's going to be made into a movie - already -and talks are that Miley Cyrus will play Laurel. Could be interesting....but kinda gettin' sick of all the movies.

The Last Song: Movie

I forgot to mention that a couple weekends ago I saw The Last Song! My mom had just finished the book and she really wanted to see it and I didn't feel up to making my husband sit through a girly romance so I told her that I would take her.

And this is what I have to say:

Yes, Miley Cyrus' face did bug me...most of the time. However!! She was really good in it. Liam Helmsworth, hottie Australian sporting an American accent, is pretty dang cute and a pretty good actor (minus the cocky parts). The story is pretty close to the book. Nicholas Sparks wrote the screenplay for this movie before he wrote the book so it is very much the same. The book expounds the story a little bit more and that is pretty much the only difference.

I have a couple favorites of Nicholas Sparks and The Last Song is one of them. As far as his movies go, this is definately one of them as well. I still haven't seen Dear John but am looking forward to that as well as the release of The Lucky One. I actually think all of his movies were done very well except one: Nights in Rodanthe. That movie was horrible. It doesn't do the book justice at all but in all honesty, the book is at the bottom of my list of favorites. The Last Song is definately worth watching. It's real good :)

Jake Sully Can Rescue MY Planet Anyday

In honor of Earth Day, aka the DVD release of AVATAR, I was given a very very VERY special gift by my la-de-da friends, Teresa and Paul, to document the occasion.

No, I am not that obsessed with this movie...they just have an awesome sense of humor. I laughed so hard - they even got me a card and fancy little bag with tissue paper. Now I can take Jake Sully with me every where I go...the fantasies will be endless.

Earth Day = Avatar Release

Avatar is being released April 22nd on Earth Day!! I'm so friggin' excited!! There will be three different releases: regular 2D, a special edition, and then a Blu-Ray 3D (however I am not sure when the 3D will release). I wish I had a 3D television right about now. BUT!! I will happily purchase the regular Avatar and poach on anyone who does have a 3D tele. :)

P.S. How awesome is it of James Cameron to carry the message of the film into real life and release Avatar on Earth Day?? - awesome way to raise awareness!

Run Fat Boy Run

Paul and I watched this last night and I enjoyed it so much I thought I'd share it. It's a 2007 movie so maybe people have heard about it, but I hadn't until I saw it on my Netflix. I laughed a lot and it was a fairly clean movie to boot. If I ever see it chillin' in a store I'll pick it up cuz I really enjoyed it....as previously mentioned.

The Last Song

This has been sitting on my shelf for a few months...:

...and I finally dug it out and dived into it. And like every single Nicholas Sparks book I own, it did not disappoint. It is such a great book, powerful I might even add, and a total tear jerker!! A couple of his books have done that to me, but they are worth the read despite the crying. Whether a fan of Nicholas Sparks or not, this book is a must-read. I am excited for the movie to come out, although I have my reserves about Miley Cyrus (something about her face bugs me so that might just mean she sucks as an actress) so for anyone who hasn't seen the trailer, break out the popcorn:

Avatar!!!!

We rounded out that last of our holiday week with Indian food and DJ Hero with Becky and Judd, a visit with some girlfriends, Rachelle and Monica (Monica having come home for the holidays from Colorado), primary meetings and a Primary Activity, and a couple more movies.

Sherlock Holmes = FANTASTIC. I love it. It is such an interestingly made movie and Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law are pretty dang good.

Saturday, we finally got to go see Avatar!!! Avatar = BLOODY AMAZING!

We had to wait a week to see in Imax - it was that sold out. And I 100% recommend seeing it in 3D. It is just the coolest movie ever. Although seeing it in 3D sorta made me want to puke at times, I still want to go see it again...in 3D. I'll just take motion sickness pills this time, which I should have thought of before since I am cursed. Plus, it was like a kiln in that theatre and that is not a good combo. We didn't get out of the movie until after 1 a.m., didn't fall asleep until after 2 a.m. and had to get up the next morning for our new 9:00 block schedule - kill me now. It didn't help that I have been sick this whole last week.

And I am back at work today...and I still feel like dung. Hoorah.

Dear John...

I don't know how I have been so out of the loop with this, but I was thrilled to learn that Dear John is being made into a movie!! Dear John is probably my favorite book from Nicholas Sparks, and I couldn't tell you why (a couple girls from the Book Club I was invited to join couldn't see why it was my favorite book and while I understand why they would question that, I still don't have an answer). So I am very excited that Dear John will be a movie and that I don't even have to wait that long before it releases on February 5th (my littlest brother's b-day!). Woot Woot!! :} Channing Tatum is playing John and I am a little irritated at that fact because, while he IS pretty to look at and makes the perfect John, he IS NOT a fantastic actor. The preview looks promising though so I guess I will have to wait and see.




I have also been waiting to read The Last Song (which Nicholas Sparks wrote the screenplay for before he wrote the book, hence why the movie is already set to be released in April of 2010) but I have had zero time to finish the fourth book of Fablehaven and The Last Song has been sitting on my bookshelf for a LONG time! Also...(he he he) The Lucky One is going to be made into a movie!!! Hot Diggity Dog! I love it!!! So many good books coming to life! It must be Christmas!

The Vampire Diaries

Once upon a time I talked about the new show on CW, The Vampire Diaries. It's been on for two weeks now and, although I still can't seem to catch it while it is actually on T.V., I do watch in online afterward when I have the time. My diagnosis?: I LOVE IT. The tv series is totally better than the actual books and way more interesting while still sticking to the books. And I don't even mind that Elena is a brunette, cuz Nina Dobrev is a good actress and very beautiful and her and Stefan (Paul Wesley)...YUM!! I am almost thinking that they should have found Paul Wesley to be Edward Cullen. He's way hotter than Robert Pattinson and a better actor. He has the whole sexy, mysterious, brooding thing going for him with the intense eyes. Swoon. The guy who plays Damon Salvatore - very yummy, too. He was on Lost back in the first season as Boone. The hot guys mixed with the sexy vampires....it's something I highly recommend!

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

One of the many things that Paul and I have going on this week: tickets to the Sneak-Peak of Harry Potter!!! YAY!! My sister works for a dentist and every Harry Potter movie, this guy rents out theatres at Jordan Commons for his patients and employees and their families. So we got to go see that tonight. In my opinion, I loved this movie!!! Paul and Benny didn't think it was spectacular...that it didn't have a very good ending and that it was just a pointless story, but I didn't think so. Everyone has their opinions. The thing I loved the most about this movie was the humor. It's so cute and there is this particular part that is really really funny - obviously I can't say because I don't want to ruin it for everybody. So if you are super excited about seeing the new Harry Potter movie, I think you won't be dissapointed.

By the way...Dr. Keith Poulsen Pediatrics is the dentist...just in case anyone's looking for a really awesome kid dentist.

Confession #4

Okay so I just saw the New Moon trailer and O.M.G.!! I have to confess that it sort of kick started my interest in Twilight again. After Twilight, I wasn't very excited about any of the other movies. I learned that Catherine Hardwicke wasn't going to be the director anymore and that was encouraging but I still wasn't feeling it. Twilight the movie just sucked hard. BUT!!! This one does look good. I was curious about what they were going to do with the wolves. I thought that whatever they came up with would be super corny. But, in the one shot that I saw of Jacob becoming a wolf, it looked pretty dang good. The acting looked a little better...but that's all irrelevant until the movie comes out. There was the one part where Bella gets the papercut and Kristen Stewart's acting was less than stellar. She can really suck. I hope that the dude that plays Jacob has better acting skills in New Moon than he did in Twilight. But if he doesn't, then at least his muscles will keep me entertained. He looks fantastic!! Anyhoo...I'm not counting down the days or anything but I do like what I saw. If this movie turns out super good my only regret would be that they should have had this new director do the first film.

Twilight the Movie...Blows Chunks Mostly

I had a little date with my husband and Becky and Judd Saturday evening. Now that most the Twilight tweenies are out of the way, we decided a matinee would be a good way to go and it was. We were able to avoid screaming, giggling (well there was some giggling - but no screaming!), applauding teeny boppers which Becky and I were thrilled about. But as for the movie itself...we were both pretty much in agreeance that it was as corny and gay as we expected it to be. It wasn't all horribly corny - I could stand to watch it again...but I personally have a hard time sitting through crappily delivered lines from crappy acting actors in a low budget film. Bluggh. The part that bugs me the most is that, if I were to have watched this movie without already reading the books and knowing what Bella and Edward were like and what was going on in their heads, I would have been completely lost with this movie and thought it was the dumbest thing ever because it just doesn't do a good job at 'capturing the magic.' (oy that was gay...sorry). I won't say more. You just have to see it - which I am sure we were the last ones in the world to do so.

More Twilight News that I Can't Believe I am Writing About.

I think the new trailer for Twilight SUCKS! Aaarggh. I thought it looked a whole lot less likely to bomb with the first trailer when they showed you less acting and more action. With this new trailer you see more acting and well...they look like a bunch of retards that just landed their first acting gig. It's not so much Robert Pattinson as it is Kristen Stewart and the cheesefactory lines she's given and doesn't pull off. And I don't so much like the directing. If you want to watch said trailer here you go. So my low expectations have been lowered even more therefore I have no expectations of this movie. But I am still gonna go see it so, Lou - we still have a date!! (and anyone else is invited as well). Oh and they have a new poster out - which is also not preferred compared to the first.
