Blogger Bored

Is it just me or is nobody posting lately??? Lately as in the past several weeks, and when I say nobody I am including myself.

My life has been so busy lately but it's been a regime scheduled type of busy. No fun get togethers, no funny happens-upons, no exciting particulars. I'm not really complaining about that fact, cuz all in all my life is pretty darn great, but it's just to point out there's nothing really to say. I could blog about all the rain, which is really pissing me off because it prevents me from working on my yard, but everyone has something to say about the rain (and/or snow) and it's annoying. I could blog about the West Jordan park being turned into a lake because of said rain and that lots and lots of ducks took refuge there, but that's kinda trivial. I have plenty of things I could Daily (not so daily) Rant about, but then I would be a big ball of pessimism and I don't care enough. I could blog about....I could blog about... see??? Nothing. Everyone else must be feeling it too cuz their blogs are about as dead as mine and that is boring. BAHUMBUG.

So I am posting about nothing just so I can post about something. And now that I have wasted a minute of your time, I am going to get back to work :)

OH!! I thought of something - Teresa brought Paul and I an awesome cheesecake last Sunday topped with homemade Rhubarb jam from her very own Rhubarb. I thought that was cool. I would have taken a picture but we ate it all :) OH OH!! And I saw some Great Dane puppies!! So freakin' cute. I would have taken pictures of them, too, despite the weird look I may have received, but I didn't have my camera on me. They were stickin' cute though. They are BIG for how young they are.....weird..... ;) I have always wanted a Great Dane...I thought about it for about five seconds until she said they were $1000 - $1500. And they were all already sold.

How Now Brown Cow?

Look at this freakin' cute cow!!!
Last Friday, I was sitting in my office all by my lonesome (which was heaven) and I heard one of the cows mooing in a very not normal way. After the third moo, the light bulb went on in my head and I grabbed my camera and ran outside hoping to catch the birth before it was over.
It was over. Bummer. Seriously I missed it by a couple minutes. Mom was already up and cleaning the little guy, which really tested out my gag relflex. Nothing like watching an animal slurp up its shiny gooey slimey placenta...there it goes again.

She even came over to the fence to check me out and I got to pet her and she sucked on my finger with her slobber and everything. I have lots of videos which I may or may not add. She's just so super cute that I couldn't resist. But I am sure people don't care to watch 10 videos of a baby cow figuring out how to stand up and walk and stuff. And no, I am not picking the cows nose.
Isn't she adorable??? Awwwww.

A Good Morning

Look what my sweet husband surprised me with this morning:

Good gracious almighty I love that man!

College Girls

Last Friday (the 7th), I met up with some friends from my college years that I don't see as often as my other roommates.
Debbie, Me & Amber:
We did a little shopping at the Gateway, then dug into some nummy Z'tejas while we caught up with each other. Like I said, we don't see each often due to different lives and busy schedules so it's really great to get together. We had some great times back in the day! Sadly, we were missing our fourth friend, Kori, but we shall meet up again!

YA Temper Tantrum

As I was reading Wings, I started thinking about a common theme that this book has in common with, oh I dunno, seventy eleventy other books. What is that common theme you ask?? A main female character with not one but two love interests. Two equally awesome, handsome guys that you can't help but want to root for the both of them.
Twilight
The Fallen Series
The Wings Series
The Hunger Games
&
The Vampire Diaries
...just to name a few.
Oh how sick and tired I am of all these Young Adult books that tear you into pieces thinking about how it's going to end up. Why must we always have this chick torn between two potentially great guys?? She can't even make up her mind!
BAHUMBUG!!
I am getting out!

Wings

Okay so I finally gave in and bought Wings. I told myself I was not going to get into another teeny-bopper series....but it seemed so interesting and curiosity got the better of me.

I did like the story. It's quite the spin on Faeries - different than anything I have ever read - but it is imaginative and fun. I won't go into what it is about because then, really, it'll ruin it. I learned a little bit about the author after I picked it up and was surprised to learn that she grew up in Salt Lake, has lived in Provo and is LDS.

The bad thing about me giving in and reading Wings now is that, even though Spells released last Tuesday, I already own Wings in paperback and you know how I am about my matching books so now, being very unsmart, I have to wait until Spells comes out in paperback. What an idiot. I should have just bought Wings in hardback in the first place. Whatever.

And FYI, like all other YA books that immediately go to the top of the Best-Sellers list these days, it's going to be made into a movie - already -and talks are that Miley Cyrus will play Laurel. Could be interesting....but kinda gettin' sick of all the movies.

Daily Rant #12

This is not meant to offend anyone who has family car decals. With that said, I am ranting about how much I HATE these:
Can we be over this fad, yet?? It was kinda cute the first time I saw it - KINDA. I was already annoyed by the 10th time I saw it. Now there are eleventy-seventy thousand of them everywhere and it's GAY!!! And besides that, why would some people choose to put their names and the names of their children on the cars?? Doesn't that scream unsafe to anybody? I dunno - but I do know that these things HAVE GO TO GO ALREADY!

Daily Rant #11

Dear Justin,

I don't know you, most of your songs are so tweeny boppy I can't stand them, and you're really only a boy which means I shouldn't pick on you. After all, is it really your fault you look like a giant fur pelt or is it your stylist? If it is your stylist, fire that person - like, yesterday. And if you don't have a stylist...well then that's why I'm here, sweety. Your hair is awful. Horrible. Retarded, even. You can't pull of this look. AT. ALL. Not one little bit. If you shaved off that mountain of hair I am pretty sure that you could provide an entire village of underprivileged people with extremely insulated and much needed fur coats. You should really do it Justin Bieber.

Think of the children.

Can't Be Tamed

I. LOVE. THIS. VIDEO!!!

Miley Cyrus, in my opinion, is totally kicking a** and taking names. Now that she is done with Disney, she is going her own raunchy way...as they all do (hello Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, etc. etc.) I have never watched an episode of Hannah Montana and I'm sure I would find it annoying. But watching her perform on her tours, and her music videos and at music awards on YouTube, you gotta admit, the girl is talented. The song she plays on the piano in The Last Song...she learned that in like, three days and she's not even a piano player.

You can't say that it wouldn't be totally awesome to be her...except when she goes Britney Spears crazy in about eight years. There's been much controversy over Miley with her dance pole performance (not as bad as everyone made it out to be) and her topless yet covered photograph done by Annie Leblahblahblah when she was what....15? (which was totally inarguably inappropriate). She's got an early start on disagreeable crap but with that said, and forgetting her age, this video is
BLOODY AWESOME!!!!!!!!
(I love love love love wings)

Game Night: Bunco With The Crazies

It's been a long while since Paul and I have played Bunco with our Bunco group. When one moved away to Colorado, it seemed to disintegrate. Hopefully we will get together again soon though.
In the mean time, we haven't had a sibling game night lately either. The holidays and then busy schedules has been the culprit. So Paul and I hosted it at our house this time (Sat. May 1st) and I thought it would be super fun to play Bunco with them.
I was right! It was a crazy time. We had tonz of fun and got out of control. It was awesome!

Lots of laughs and yelling: we are a very loud family.

Half of my bro/sis' are on diets and so I had everyone bring their own meat (since I knew everyone could at least eat that) and we did a barbecue and had corn on the cob, yummy salad, snacks and sherbet. Mmmmm....I haven't had sherbet in forever!

One other good note! My computer parts arrived that day and Morgan brought it over and put it together!! Yay! Our laptop is so bogged down and slow now. We were going to get a new one around Christmas but thought it better to wait a little bit. Now we have a super kick A brand new one built my super geeky smart bro!! Super excited! And it's pretty cool to have a computer tech in the family :)

The Last Song: Movie

I forgot to mention that a couple weekends ago I saw The Last Song! My mom had just finished the book and she really wanted to see it and I didn't feel up to making my husband sit through a girly romance so I told her that I would take her.

And this is what I have to say:

Yes, Miley Cyrus' face did bug me...most of the time. However!! She was really good in it. Liam Helmsworth, hottie Australian sporting an American accent, is pretty dang cute and a pretty good actor (minus the cocky parts). The story is pretty close to the book. Nicholas Sparks wrote the screenplay for this movie before he wrote the book so it is very much the same. The book expounds the story a little bit more and that is pretty much the only difference.

I have a couple favorites of Nicholas Sparks and The Last Song is one of them. As far as his movies go, this is definately one of them as well. I still haven't seen Dear John but am looking forward to that as well as the release of The Lucky One. I actually think all of his movies were done very well except one: Nights in Rodanthe. That movie was horrible. It doesn't do the book justice at all but in all honesty, the book is at the bottom of my list of favorites. The Last Song is definately worth watching. It's real good :)
