Earthquake Preparedness

I am convinced that Utah will be, sooner or later, hit with a catastrophic earthquake and I am going to admit that I am petrified of even the thought. With what happened in Haiti and in Chile, I only get more and more worried about it. Just the thought of the devastation and loss in Haiti seems so hard...can you imagine actually living it?? I know it won't be quite the same here but, what will it be like?? Right after Chili's earthquake, I had the news on and saw this guy being interviewed and this Handbook being advertised. It's a free download, and it will suck your ink dry!, but I think it's worth it. I printed one for myself and copied another for my mom. There is some interesting and helpful info in there (and the front cover is pretty funny if you ask me - I love the dinosaur chasing the cave man!).

Earth Day = Avatar Release

Avatar is being released April 22nd on Earth Day!! I'm so friggin' excited!! There will be three different releases: regular 2D, a special edition, and then a Blu-Ray 3D (however I am not sure when the 3D will release). I wish I had a 3D television right about now. BUT!! I will happily purchase the regular Avatar and poach on anyone who does have a 3D tele. :)

P.S. How awesome is it of James Cameron to carry the message of the film into real life and release Avatar on Earth Day?? - awesome way to raise awareness!

Easter Cupcakes

I'm thinkin' that I might get a little baking itch close to Easter and make these sweet lookin' Cuppy Cakes I found over at What's Cooking for Easter in a week-ish. I think my nephews would love them. I might eat 1 or 5 myself.

I Love This Song!!

Wouldn't it be nice to be a billionaire?? This is such a fun song. Travie McCoy (from Gym Class Heroes) sings it with the help of Bruno Mars.

Playin' In My Pod

This is a little guilty pleasure. I was never a fan of Britney Spears when I was in High School - which is when, I believe, that she was HUGE. But an old co-worker of mine had one of her albums on iTunes and I totally downloaded it for the hell of it. It's really great music to clean your house to!! Anyhoozlebees, one day last year I found myself listening to her latest album, Circus, online - which, I admit I like...a lot - and my favorite song (on that album) happens to be Unusual You.

Come On, Little Pony

Saturday I went out to the West Desert with my Pa, my oldest sister and her husband. It's been years since I have been riding out in the desert and it was so nice to be out there again.
We were supposed to take off around nine, but this little pony put us back about a half an hour:
This is Roxy and she recently developed a phobia of trailers. She freaked out in the trailer, sitting down and refusing to move. When she did get up, she freaked out all over again and then sat back down. You can see how she wore the hair right off her haunches there by doing so. Luckily, the other horses are well trained and they dealt with her tantrum pretty well.
It took us an hour to get to our destination and once we were on the road, we still had a few minor setbacks with Roxy. She constantly threw fits and kicked, one time nailing my sister in her foot, and my dad would have to work and work and work with her. At one time, while he had her in a circle, she twisted so far that she fell over and threw my dad in a tree! Well, my dad doesn't tolerate attitude with horses so he refused to let her get up until he was good and ready.
By the time he reached that point, she refused to get up. I had to pull her up with my horse! After that little incident, she was dripping wet from head to toe with sweat and plain wore out. My dad didn't have anymore problems with her after that.

We had a nice ride after that. Kenny really enjoyed himself - he is new with all of this and this was his first day long trip.

The best part is when we stop for lunch. Food never tastes as good as it does when you've been out riding all day. We built a small fire and roasted hot dogs - they were the bomb.com. Bacardi wouldn't touch his own food but instead waited by feet for a hot dog. We had one left over and so he munched on his dog and left his food for the coyotes.

The only other set back we had was when my horse decided to have it out with a tree. We were heading up a hill and I had my feet dangling out of the stirrups. I had barely put my feet in when Smoke decided to kill a tree and because I didn't quite have my balance yet, I nearly went over. It all makes for an interesting and fun time, though, as long as no one gets hurt.

Run Fat Boy Run

Paul and I watched this last night and I enjoyed it so much I thought I'd share it. It's a 2007 movie so maybe people have heard about it, but I hadn't until I saw it on my Netflix. I laughed a lot and it was a fairly clean movie to boot. If I ever see it chillin' in a store I'll pick it up cuz I really enjoyed it....as previously mentioned.

Ha!!

I'm such a geek for doing this background, but I love Avatar and I couldn't resist. I laugh at myself. Ha ha ha ha ha

Camilo by Said The Whale. I love this catchy song. It puts me in a good mood - which I need right now.

Daily Rant #9

Gerard Butler is NOT hot. And I don't understand why everyone woman thinks he is so swoon-worthy, besides the accent of course because the Irish accent is awesome. However!! He is not attractive and his acting in his last few movies = TERRIBLE. So having said that - I will give him this one magazine cover to look the opposite of NOTHOT and be, instead, somewhat good-looking. That's all.

I'd Put Some Little Musical Notes Here If I Could Instead Of This Title

I have been waking up for the past three mornings singing this song - more accurately the chorus - in my head. I haven't been singing it during the day and it's certainly not even on my mind before I go to bed, but it's playing in my head before I'm even aware that I'm awake. "....I'd spend the night and I'd lose my mind...." Weird...a little???

Awwww!! Look At The Little Moo Cow!

So I literally work in a barn. Like a shed-type barn that had an office built inside of it. It's quite nice actually, cuz I have the place to myself a lot and I don't have a bunch of people driving me absolutely batty and going "Maghann, Maghann, Maghann - I am too dumb to do anything for myself - help me help me." But that's beside the point. The point is, I work in a shed-type barn and I have real barns around me and these cute little buggers:

I've already been here long enough for the last one to get big and shipped off to become dinner, so I try not to think about that when I see these cute little baby cows.

Can You Keep A Secret?

Finished this book couple weeks ago for Book Club. Sophie Kinsella is the author of Confessions of A Shopaholic series and other witty funny books. This was the first one I read but I also plan to read Undomesticated Goddess after hearing great things about it last night. It's a very cute book and will make your chuckle a little. A little heads up though - it has some F-bombs in there from time to time - just have to throw that out there so your aware.

Playin' In My Pod

Decided to randomly pick a song on my iPod and share it every once in awhile. Your welcome ;)

Ride Wit Me by I Call Shotgun - its a slower pretty version of Nelly's Country Grammar album in 2000 mixed with Cupid's Chokehold by Gym Class Heroes (or Supertramp's Breakfast in America - depending on what generation you are from!)

It's quite catchy, darling!

Color Me Happy

I LOVE dark nail polish. Am I goth, or mod, or vampiric for it?? I don't think so. I think dark nail polish is so HOT and I love me some amazing colors. My favorites that I love to wear are from OPI - great nail polish (also expensive so I don't have many).
Yoga To Get This Blue - so dark it almost looks black but has this awesome electric blue tone to it:
Baby It's Coal Outside - this is a discontinued holiday color, but I can still find it online. It's black with white flecks in it so it shimmers like diamonds, so pretty:
And lastly, but not leastly, Russian Navy: a super pretty dark purple - purple rocks!:
I wish that dark nail polish was easier to maintain on the fingernails. Because it's so dark, you constantly have to touch it up - but my toenails stay perfect for weeks and weeks. Anybody know an amazing secret to keep polish from chipping on fingernails???....besides a regular topcoat?? Maybe I'llput a layer of super glue on top!!

Moi???

I usually check my blog every single day. But I do it while I am at work because I just don't have it in me to sit down at my computer while I am home in the evenings. The last two days I have been very busy at work, so this morning I decided to catch up. I couldn't believe my eyes!!! My very good friend at Happy Thoughts (check out my side blog) posted about me!!! Little ol' me!! I never thought to do anything like that - so it surprised me and gave me the happy feel goods! Sorry I didn't see it sooner, Teresa - and thanks for visiting me (I have already eaten all my goodies out of my 'bin' - I couldn't resist!!) And yes... I forgive you ;)

Happy Birthday to Me.

On Tuesday, my sweet Hubband left me a little surprise. My b-day present is on order and being smart, he bought me some goodies to go with it. When I went down to fix me breakfast, I found me a new black sports bra and some comfy new socks...and my favorite candybars. So I guess I can eat the candy bars and then put on my new gear and work them off, right?? He's so cute.

When we got home from work, he took me out to one of my favorite restaurants, Indian Fusion.

And again, he had Scouts since it was a Tuesday but he came home and pampered me some more. Love that man!!

Your BUGGING Me!!

Sunday my family came together to celebrate three birthdays. Gaven turned 22 February 5th. Paul turned 27 February 9th and...I had a birthay somewhere in there, too.

We had some nummy food and we all got together to play Phase 10 - which turned out to be freaking hilarious. Paul and I snapped some pictures of us together:
and then my mom said something totally out of character: "Why do you always have to smile in your pictures?"

???????

I was under the impression thats what people normally do. Very funny, Mom.
So then we did the opposite of smile:

What a cooky lady! (She was really kidding about the whole thing)

She and I were sitting next to each other and we were really trying to bug each other. I snapped this real quick and had a good laugh. She told me I wasn't allowed to put this on my blog - well, she's not the boss of me! Not really...anymore...running away.

We had two awesome ice cream cakes (that's what our family loves to do) and we sang to each other. If you care to look at the video, it starts out a little early but in the background you can hear my sister and my nephew arguing back and forth and then for a quick second, you'll see my nephew get really mad at her - I thought it was really funny!:

A Little Girl Time

Saturday afternoon I picked my niece up from my mom's to have some girl time with her. Well, there wasn't much girl time to be had since apparently she is failing a bunch of classes and needed help doing a buttload of homework. Nice. So Paul and I spent all night and most of Sunday playing parent.
Here's a little conversation for you: "Read your book", "But I hate reading", "Doesn't matter, you don't have a choice - quit complaining about how you hate to read and JUST READ." "But I hate this book, it's so dumb and it doesn't make any sense." "Doesn't matter, it's your assignment. READ IT" "But I hate reading" "I don't care!!!" "But I don't want to" "You HAVE TO!!!!" And all the time we spent arguing with her to read the book, she probably could have had half of it done. Teenagers...why do I want kids again?? I'm re-thinking that strategy.
We tried to get a little girl-time in. We went to the mall real quick where we bought some new fragrances at Victoria's Secret (with my nifty $10 gift card I get just for being born) and then bought her a cute little belt at Charlotte. I also picked up a new nail polish..he he he. Love it!

So we did our nails and watched some shows together:

See my awesome new blue?? I'm in love with it!:

I still can't believe how much she's grown up. We went to my church the next day and she sat with me in Primary. An awesome lady in the presidency sat down next to her and started talking to her and she literally thought my niece was a gorgeous 18 year old!! (my niece is very short but she was sitting down so without the height it was hard to tell!) And it made her all smiles!
