Earthquake Preparedness

I am convinced that Utah will be, sooner or later, hit with a catastrophic earthquake and I am going to admit that I am petrified of even the thought. With what happened in Haiti and in Chile, I only get more and more worried about it. Just the thought of the devastation and loss in Haiti seems so hard...can you imagine actually living it?? I know it won't be quite the same here but, what will it be like?? Right after Chili's earthquake, I had the news on and saw this guy being interviewed and this Handbook being advertised. It's a free download, and it will suck your ink dry!, but I think it's worth it. I printed one for myself and copied another for my mom. There is some interesting and helpful info in there (and the front cover is pretty funny if you ask me - I love the dinosaur chasing the cave man!).

  1. I've had this handbook for about a year and I really like it. There is a lot of good information in it.

  2. Well, my advice to you: get earthquake insurance; have a food storage; and practice not standing under heavy things. All good advice for the faint of heart.
Growing up I lived through the Mt. Saint Helen's eruption, explosion really. Ash everywhere. Total darkness, at noon day no less. People going crazy, even crashing on the roads because, you may not know this, but ash is very slippery. Stores empty in hours and no trucks could get in. Our family sat safe at home. Prepare, content to watch the adventure, and ready to help. No prob. Not all fun, but do-able, definitely do-able. So stay close to me and you'll be fine. ;-)
